SUP race accross Paris
I’m just back from Paris where I took part in the 1st SUP race ever done accross Paris !
11km from “Bibliotheque François Miterrand” to the Microsoft Headquarters on the river Seine.
I wasn’t really prepared for this race, I couldn’t train at all for it and I had to send the board to france 15 days before the race (only a few airlines can carry 14′ boards and none of them fly to Paris).
My main concern was about the cold, I live and train in Fuerteventura where it’s sunny and 25°C all year around… And the weather in Paris at this time of the year is 0°C, snow and water is 5°C…
In those conditions, falling isn’t an option.
I took a good start and lead all the race but despite my friends advices, I’ve overdressed, used neoprene gloves, and totally overheated…At one point I thought I would need to give up… I took off my gloves and felt a litlle better…
Crossing the finish line, I felt proud of coming first of the first race ever made in Paris.
Due to the weather forecast, only 30 out of 100 racers could take the start, I’ve felt sorry for some of my friends who had to watch the race without participating.
Thanks to Nidecker SUP, Kialoa Paddles, Olukai, Gloryfy, Hawaii Surf Paris for bringing me to this contest.
